About Me

Hi! I am Eric. I am a student at life, and I am about to resign from my 9-5 job (really more like 6-6) to go after my dream career. I’ve had an interest in entrepreneurship/investing since I can remember but I have yet to actively pursue this line of work. This blog is dedicated to documenting the journey as I attempt to transition into a new career. My hope is that, by following along, you will be able to garner the courage to one day pursue your passions and dreams, as well.

Why am I doing this?

When I was a kid, I wanted to be 2 things: a soldier and an entrepreneur/investor. What attracted me to these career fields were the desire to make a difference in the world, my lust for adventure, and, ultimately, having control of my own life.

I’ve accomplished my first goal by serving as an Army officer for the last 6 years. Due to the experience, I’ve been able to call many places home, each of which has provided me more insight into the diversity of human experience: major metropolitan U.S. cities, the mountains of Vermont, the open plains of Oklahoma, the desert shrub of Afghanistan and, currently, the land of the calm in South Korea.

Now, I’m embarking on a transitional journey. I’ve been sheltered away in an insular organization for the majority of my adult life, which has rendered the outside world fairly unfamiliar to me. This is my quest to learn about what the world has to offer without the input of agenda-based external influences (i.e. professors, supervisors, etc.) Although I will seek the advice of authority figures and industry experts, the research and learning is going to be directed by my curiosity and interests alone.

I can’t wait to jump into the adventure in pursuit of my dream career! The world is going to be my classroom and I look forward to what it has to offer. I will be documenting my thoughts, strategies, and actions as I go through this entire process. My hope is to provide insight into my approach and to outline the guiding principles behind my strategy.

Thanks for stopping by to get to know me! I hope you stay and enjoy the story of my upcoming journey.
